What Is the Children’s Hunger Project?
The Children’s Hunger Project is a local initiative that has been operating since 2010, providing children with weekend food packages. As hard as it is to imagine, many elementary school children in Brevard County have limited access to nourishing food. These children, who usually come from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, find it difficult to concentrate and function in school because they lack proper nutrition.
The Children’s Hunger Project supplies these children with lightweight, no-cook, easy-to-handle food they can carry home and eat over the weekend. This important community initiative helps many local children eat and learn better during their most crucial years of physical and mental development.
What Is the 321: Tacos & Treats Throwdown?
The 321: Tacos & Treats Throwdown is a non-profit event by The Children’s Hunger Project. The open-air, family-friendly festival will include food and dessert booths, live music, a vibrant craft fair that supports local artisans and small businesses, and many fun activities like axe throwing, gem mining, face painting, and much more. Attendees 21 years of age and older can also sample a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, like local craft beers, hard seltzers, and cocktails.
Favorites from the local music scene making special appearances at the event include Smashing Pixies, Coastal Breed, and More Than Venus. The Tacos and Desserts Competition, in which participants can vote for their favorite vendors, promises to be one of the highlights of this fun fest.
Attendees aged 11 and older will require a $7 admission ticket to participate in the event. Limited VIP passes are also available. Children 10 years of age and younger enter the venue free of charge.
Proceeds from the event will go toward supplying schoolchildren with nutritious food packages through The Children’s Hunger Project.
